President Obama State of the Union Address

by cubiclejot on January 29, 2010

Did you watch the State of the Union Address last night?  If you didn’t I’ve attached the video for you.  I don’t know about what you all thought about the speech, but I thought it was good.  Analysts following the speech read into everything that the President said, criticing every espression in the room, but to me it seem quite simple. The speech reminded me a lot about the lectures I used to get from my parents.  In this scenario President Obama is the parent giving the lecture.  The President calls for bipartisanship, translation “get along with your brother”,  cut government spending in 2011, translation “save your money, don’t waste it”.  The President wants to tighten banking regulation, translation “I’m taking away your car key until you show some responsibility.”  The President wants to award schools for successes, translation “I’ll give you cash for every A on your report card.”  Yes, I am a very simple guy, but at times don’t you wonder, does it really matter what they say on that podium?  No matter who the politician is I can never believe what the say. I just think they need to do less talking and start taking more action.”  I’m not saying President Obama hasn’t been scrambling. I am actually a big fan of President Obama and feel for him, having inherited such a big financial mess this last year. No matter what action he took  he’s damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t.  I am just happy that we didn’t have a complete financial melt down and I didn’t have to tap into my stock pile of canned goods and sticky rice.

Sabadee CubicleJot,

How do I buy the tshirts? Love the new slogan and your shut downs on the imposters. I love the comparison on Obams State of Union Address and the parents lectures. Have you seen the “You are Lao if…..” list? Hysterical. Reminded me of you.
